Hello, I’m Cheryl Harrington. I’ve had a fear of dentists from a young age. The needles alone could cause me to pass out. I have always had trouble with my teeth getting cavities easily. Growing up, I only went to the dentist when absolutely necessary. Each time was painful and not a good experience. I was brushing and flossing daily though. As time went on, I noticed my gums were receding. There wasn’t any pain and nothing was said at my checkups about it. Fast forward. I lost my job and all my benefits due to my health issues. I am now on disability. About a year and a half ago I had a lot of pain in a tooth. I saw an article in the Muskegon Chronicle about Volunteer For Dental and decided to call. I talked to Suzanne and she told me I qualified and set me up to attend dental health class. At the class I learned some new things. Pretzels and crackers aren’t the good snacks I thought they were. Suzanne was very nice and informative. My tooth was really hurting and she set me up quickly to see Dr. Cerminaro. It was abscessed and I needed to take medicine before it could be removed. The tooth removal really amazed me. Very little pain. I also had a few cavities and a pretty bad case of periodontal disease to take care of. Suzanne set me up to get my fillings done by Dr. Monica and Dr. Michelle in North Muskegon. I went to Dr. Kovicak’s office and saw Michelle the hygienist for my periodontal treatment and again I was so pleased that it wasn’t real painful. Now I go every 6 months for my checkup and cleaning. Thank you to everyone at Volunteer For Dental for helping me with my teeth and calming my fears of getting dental work done. I now have a healthy smile because of you!
