1. You must be a resident of Muskegon or Oceana County;
2. Not have dental insurance;
3. Qualify financially by being 250% of household income or less.
Volunteer For Dental partners with over 30 non-profit organizations in Muskegon and Oceana counties that offer volunteer opportunities. We will provide you with a list of the organizations and their contact information.
Many of our non-profit partners offer volunteering opportunities that allow you to sit, move around as needed, and no heavy lifting. People of all physical capabilities volunteer as participants in our program.
There is no cost for dental services. If you miss or cancel a dental appointment without two business days’ notice, you will be charged $35 for the missed appointment. After a second missed appointment, you will be dismissed from the program.
Local, private dentists volunteer during the workday in their private office to complete dental services for program participants.
Call our office at 231.773.1360 to be screened over the phone. Once you are qualified and registered as a participant, you can then start volunteering and attend our dental health class. Both are required to get your first dental appointment scheduled.
There is no age requirement. Our participants are 18 years old or older. In Michigan, children are often eligible for Healthy Kids Dental insurance through the state or Medicaid.
We offer basic dental services including exams, x-rays, fillings, extractions, cleanings, Fluoride treatments, treatment for periodontal disease, sometimes root canals, and sometimes dentures.
